Presenter:
Claire Burke Draucker, PhD, RN, FAAN is the Angela Barron McBride Endowed Professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at the Indiana University School of Nursing. Dr. Draucker’s program of research has focused on how men and women heal from interpersonal violence throughout the lifespan. Her studies have used qualitative methods to build theories of healing to inform initiatives to prevent violence and to develop treatment approaches for counseling survivors of violence. In addition, her work focuses on treatment utilization for adolescent mental health problems and developing interventions to decrease attachment insecurity. Moreover, she is an expert on the use of mixed methods research for intervention and instrument development. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ohio Department of Mental Health, and several private and local foundations. She authored the text Counseling Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (Sage Publications), 120 journal articles, and several book chapters. Each May, she offers a two-day intensive workshop on Grounded Theory Research.
