ARNA Board of Directors Leadership Commitment Form
ARNA would like to extend an invitation to all ARNA members to submit their name as a candidate for eligible positions on the Board of Directors. If you wish to serve as an ARNA President, Secretary, Region Director or Nominating Committee Member, please complete the form at the bottom of this page.

VICE-PRESIDENT
This individual shall assume duties of the president in the president’s absence or at the discretion of the president. Presides over all meetings of the Arkansas Nurses Association (ARNA) in the absence of the president, or at the discretion of the president. Serves as the chief spokesperson for ARNA, in the absence of the president, or at the discretion of the president. Represents ARNA at other local, state, national meetings, in the absence of the president, or at the discretion of the president. Serves as a member of the executive committee. Serves as the ARNA delegate to the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Membership Assembly, in the absence of the president, or at the discretion of the president. Performs board liaison responsibilities as assigned by the president. Assumes other related executive duties as requested by the president. Participates in appraisal of appropriate staff, as directed by the president. Presents an oral and written report for the board meetings and ARNA Membership Assembly. Must be able to commit annually to participate in two Board meetings virtually and/or in person, attendance at ARNA advocacy events, and frequent committee conference calls. Candidates must be a full member of both ARNA/ANA.
TREASURER
This position has a seat on the ARNA Board of Directors and serves as the liaison between the ARNA Board of Directors and assigned groups. The treasurer monitors the fiscal affairs of the Arkansas Nurses Association (ARNA); provides and interprets financial reports to the ARNA Board, the ARNA Membership Assembly and the membership. Must be able to commit to oversight of ARNA funds and participate in two Board meetings in person and conference calls/meetings.
REGION 2 (NE) DIRECTOR
This position is responsible for direction and oversight of services and programs that meet the needs of nurses in a specific region of the state. This includes but is not limited to organizing regional meetings, serving as the regional representative, and acting as the liaison between the regional members and leadership. Must be able to commit annually to participate in two Board meetings virtually and/or in person and conference calls/meetings.
REGION 4 (SE) DIRECTOR
This position is responsible for direction and oversight of services and programs that meet the needs of nurses in a specific region of the state. This includes but is not limited to organizing regional meetings, serving as the regional representative, and acting as the liaison between the regional members and leadership. Must be able to commit annually to participate in two Board meetings virtually and/or in person and conference calls/meetings.
RECENT GRADUATE
This position serves as a non-voting member of the Arkansas Nurses Association’s (ARNA) Board of Directors elected by the membership to represent the new (within five years of graduation) registered nurse. Attends all meetings of the board to be mentored for a leadership role in ARNA. Actively participates in board discussions to represent the views and ideas of the neophyte registered nurse. Represents ARNA at meetings as so designated by the president.
Performs board liaison responsibilities as assigned by the president. Presents an oral and written report for the board meetings and ARNA Membership Assembly. Must be able to commit annually to participate in two Board meetings virtually and/or in person and conference calls/meetings.
LPN REPRESENTATIVE
This position serves as a voting member of the Arkansas Nurses Association’s (ARNA) Board of Directors elected by the membership to represent the licensed practical nurse. Attends all meetings of the board. Actively participates in board discussions to represent the views and ideas of the licensed practical nurse. Represents ARNA at meetings as so designated by the president. Performs board liaison responsibilities as assigned by the president. Presents an oral and written report for the board meetings and ARNA Membership Assembly. Must be able to commit annually to participate in two Board meetings virtually and/or in person and conference calls/meetings.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE MEMBER (2 POSITIONS)
Individuals in the position will request from the Regions and organizational affiliates the names of members qualified and willing to serve if elected; the committee may consider candidates suggested from other sources. Members prepare a list of qualified candidates for offices to be filled and assure that geographic and membership diversity is reflected. The committee will also implement the policy and procedures for nominations and election as established by the ARNA Board of Directors or as provided in the ARNA Guidelines and Bylaws. The above positions are elected by ARNA membership. Two open positions for 2 years term.
ANA MEMBERSHIP ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVE/ALTERNATE (1 POSITION)
Individuals in the position will represent ARNA as a voting member at the annual ANA Membership Assembly. The ARNA representatives and alternates to the ANA Membership Assembly shall serve a two-year term or until a successor is elected.

Candidates must be a current ARNA member in good standing to run for office (any other specific requirements will be listed in the position description). Submission of this form indicates that you understand the duties and responsibilities of the office for which you are submitting your name.
